Enoch Was A Man Of Faith!

Read Genesis 5:18-23

In this brief biography of Enoch, you might think that very little is known about him. But Enoch was a very great man of God. He was known well enough to inspire the writer of Hebrews to use him as an example of a man of faith. Enough was known to inspire Jude to repeat his words as a warning to Christians!

Enoch was 65 Years old when he came to God. This was at the same time as his son, Methuselah, was born.

What happened to bring him to God?

Was it a great calamity?

Was it a personal visit from God?

Was it the witness and personal life of his Father, Jarad?

In any event, something happened, and Enoch began to walk with God!

He named his son Methuselah: It means, "When he is dead, it shall come." So, he received some kind of revelation from God!

No testimony can be greater than "He walked with God!"

You can not walk with God and doubt!

You can not walk with God and sin!

You can not walk with God and with the world at the same time!

The bible simply says, he walked with God and he was not! For God took him!

But Jude writes of him:

Jude 1:14-15

And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these saying, "Behold, the Lord cometh with ten-thousand (untold numbers) Of his saints, to execute judgement upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

These are the sexual perverse, walking after their own lusts: men with men, women with women.

These are the murderers of unborn children: ripping apart flesh and sucking out the brains of helpless babies still in (or partially in) their mother's wombs.

These are those that are too busy or too disintrested to consider God's plan of redemption for mankind, Jesus Christ.

"And Enoch prophesied . . ." If you walk with God, you just can't keep your mouth shut!

You will preach!

You will witness!

You will pray!

You will sing!

You will prophesy!

You will stand strong against the enemies of God! You will not be ashamed of your Savior!

And God will talk with you in the cool of the evening!

He will reveal things to you!

And Enoch said, "The Lord is coming with thousands (every one) of his saints!

Sing, "O, I want to be in that number!"

I want to be redeemed!

I want to be washed white as snow!

I want to be a saint!

I want to walk with God!

Enoch was so close to God that he could see the future of God's people!

Enoch was so close to God that he could see the destruction of the sinners"

Those who murder!

Those who have abandoned God!

Those who walk after their own lusts!

Those who speak great swelling words to build themselves up in the eyes of some great person instead of in God's eyes!

Those who have separated themselves from Jesus Christ!

Those who mock!

Those who are ungodly!

And Enoch did what all do who walk with God! He warned them!

Let us now go to Hebrews:

11:5 - "By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: For before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. "But without faith it is impossible to please Him: . . . "

And so we see that Enoch was not just a man who lived 365 Years but a man who lived 300 Of those years walking with God!!

If we have faith we can walk with God! And walking with God will increase our faith!
