We Can Not Please God Without Faith
We have learned some things about faith but now let's examine the Bible kind of faith. From the Greek and from the everyday meaning of the word.

If we can get a handle on faith, we can be the overcomers that the early Christians were.
Sometimes, we look for things from faith that we may not be eligible for. So let's see what some of the things faith does not do in the Christian's life:

Faith does not deliver the Christian from persecution:

Jesus said, "Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for My sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: For great is your reward in heaven: For so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. Ye are the salt of the earth:"
Matthew 5:11-12

Faith does not deliver the Christian from works:

James compared faith and works to the body and spirit of man: "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." James 2:26

And the works must be works of the Spirit, not of the flesh:

Paul wrote to the Galatians: "Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings and such like: Of which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God." Galatians 5:19-21

And he says in verse 16, "This I say then, walk in the Spirit and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh."

The other side of the equation is in verse 22: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: Against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit."

Faith does not replace the brain:

The Lord says, "Come, let us reason together." "Study to show thyself approved." "Do not provoke to anger." - these all require our God-given intelligence. God would have us "Be prudent", "Be circumspect", "Be wise as serpents".
