"FORGET NOT HIS BLESSINGS" And it shall be,
when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy
fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which
thou buildedst not, And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells
digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which though plantedst not;
when thou shalt have eaten and be full; Then beware lest thou forget the LORD, which
brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage. Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him,
and shalt swear by his name. Ye shall not go
after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you; (For the LORD thy
God is a jealous god among you) lest the anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against
thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.
Ye shall not tempt the LORD your God, as ye tempted him in Massah. Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the
LORD your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hah commanded thee. And thou shalt do that which is right and good in
the sight of the LORD: that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and
possess the good land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to cast out all thine enemies from before thee, as
the LORD hath spoken. (Deut 6:10-19) How well the Lord knows the heart of man. How quickly in can become filled with no gratitude
and how thankless it could be. How soon the
heart forgets of the mercy, grace, compassion and unfailing love of the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY. Throughout the journey in the wilderness to the destiny of the
promised land, the Lord endured much murmuring and complaining seemingly daily from his
children. Consistently delivering them,
feeding and nourishing them, leading and guiding them, when the sun rose and the day
began, they quickly forgot all about his blessings of yesterday and focused only on what
they had to endure for that moment. Here in
these passages of scripture, under the commandment of God, Moses brings back to their
remembrance all the compassion and goodness the Lord had bestowed upon them, the promises
that awaited them in the land flowing with milk and honey if they remained
obedient to him, and warns them to Forget Not
His Blessings, nor the commandments given to them in the wilderness lest they
would rouse the anger of the Lord and punishment would follow. Today within the church, many of us are as the children of Israel
were in that we quickly forget all that the Lord God has brought us through, and the many
blessings hed given us and are constantly having to be reminded to Forget Not His Blessings. If we all would take a moment to reflect back,
every one of us can testify of a time when the Lord delivered us from a difficult trial or
tribulation. Thus, we can be confident and
assured that He shall deliver us once again for HE IS FAITHFUL. Many can testify of his
restoring their health, family, marriage, business, ministry, finances and the like, and
how the Lord turned outwardly impossible situations around to possibility, and poured his
mercy and grace upon us just when we needed his favor the most. He made a way where there
was no way, and opened doors that NO man could shut.
When we cried out to him he heard us, and delivered us from all our
troubles. He healed the broken hearted,
brought strength to the weary, brought life to a dead spirit, encouraged the hopeless, rained down blessings upon the faithful
. And
yet, STILL we quickly forget. There are two types of believers today who have quickly forgotten The Lords many blessings. The 1st are the ones whove already crossed over and entered into the modern day land flowing with milk and honey. Theyve gone beyond the wilderness, and have passed through to His promises, but yet have forgotten the many trials in the wilderness, the struggles in the desert land, and how the Lord delivered them from them all. Theyve forgotten what it took to reach the Promise Land, and how there were times they thought they couldnt take another step, but he picked them up and carried them through. Theyve forgotten the bread (word) He fed them daily and the water (Holy Spirit) He gave them to drink and react as if the place where they are now, they made it there by their own doing. Theyve become focused now ONLY on their goodly surroundings and have lavished themselves with great worldly possessions. They speak only of their success and NOT of the one who blessed them with the success. They would rather forget the dry desert land they traveled through to get to the place they are now. But in their desire to forget, theyve also neglected to REMEMBER who gave them the promise, and who it was that delivered the promise. The 2nd type is the most common and the one most of us fall prey to (if we are truly honest with ourselves) as I myself had become victim to this type. These are the ones who are still traveling through the wilderness and havent quite reached the modern day land flowing with milk and honey yet continue to cling to the hope and promise that they shall. Their trials seem endless and as quickly as they receive the victory over one, they are troubled by another. They give praise and thanks to the Lord for seeing them through, however, somewhere upon treading the deepness of the valley, they become weary and tired and all that can be seen are the difficulties of what lies before them and NOT the promise of what lies BEYOND them. Like the children of Israel, they forget about yesterday. They forget about the trial the Lord just brought them through. They forget that if He was able to see them through once, He IS ABLE to see them through again and again. If they are not careful to remember the goodness of the Lord, if they are not careful to remember the GLORY of the Lord that was manifested before them yesterday, if they are not careful to remember that beyond the valley there is a mountain top, then such will remain as the children of Israel did, wandering in the wilderness. FOREVER SEEKING but NEVER coming into the FULLNESS of HIS promises. Beloved brothers and sisters in the Lord, let us not be as the first nor the second type, but let us be as our Lord commanded. Forget NOT His Blessings, but in ALL things, let us give thanks and praise to the one who has promised to be with us, EVEN till the end of the age. To the one who SPOKE the word and DELIVERED the promise. To the one whos FAITHFUL and TRUE, who RESTORES and MENDS that which has been broken. And to the one who will lead us THROUGH the valleys, to the blessed place of rest. JESUS the same yesterday, today and FOREVER!! Forget Not his many, many blessings! I love you all so very much. Have a blessed week in the Lord and remember: Whatever we do, do ALL for the GLORY of GOD, who ALONE is worthy of the GLORY and the PRAISE! May the peace of the Lord be with you today and always .
